About the event

Bylaws Feedback & Q&A: Summary

Who attended: Naomi (hosting from the caucus account), Josh Hirsch, Elizabeth Belkind, and Amanda Zbarsky, along with a small number of members. Turnout was low. One member who couldn’t attend sent questions through another attendee.

NEA’s position

Naomi shared Jason’s emailed reply. It confirms in writing that the caucus can’t operate under an NEA umbrella. Members said this confirmation mattered because it shows the caucus has to formalize on its own. Attendees also said NEA should be educating caucuses on this. Other caucuses appear to be “flying under the radar.”

Why there are back taxes

  • In 2021, Charles Moskowitz got an EIN and marked the caucus as a nonprofit, but the follow-up paperwork was never filed. The EIN is now believed to be inactive.
