Advocate
We know how upsetting it is for so many students, families, and public education staff that the NEA Representative Assembly voted to cut ties with the ADL, a widely respected civil rights organization that provides schools with valuable resources to protect students and staff in marginalized communities. Many of you have reached out, angry, hurt, and worried. We share your pain, but we also see this as our moment. Together, we have a real opportunity to build momentum, create change, and ensure our unions protect ALL staff and students, including Jewish educators and students.
WHAT CAN TEACHERS DO?
Become a Delegate!
If you are a teacher in an NEA affiliated local or state union, you can become a delegate at the annual NEA Representative Assembly. The most powerful way to protect Jewish educators and students is by electing more delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly. That process starts now at your local and state union. Reach out, get involved, and consider running as a delegate for next year. Local unions sometimes start making these decisions over the summer, so reach out to your local union president for more information today! The more delegates we have, the stronger our voice.
Join or Start a State Jewish Affairs Caucus
Organize and Rally! Find out if your state has a Jewish Affairs Caucus. If they don't have one, consider starting a caucus of your own!
The NEA Jewish Affairs Caucus greatly appreciates your support and advocacy. Together we can make a difference!
